A Case Study on Group Play Therapy for a Children with Maladjustment Behaviors in School Environment

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to illustrated the effectiveness of group play therapy for three school-age boys with maladjustment behavior who are informed from their school teachers. The maladjustment behavior were about self-insight, social skills, and interaction behavior with their peers. The ages of the boys were from seven years and ten months to eight years and one months. The 16 sessions for six months were managed to reduce the maladjustment behaviors with the games and group activities in the group play therapy.
Although the effectiveness of the play therapy were indicated variable, this research concluded that the children (a) took their self-insight; (b) improved the social skills; and (c) generalized the social skills in their daily life, especially social interaction with their peers.
